Platt College San Diego is offering week long, introductary course in Photoshop, Maya and ZBrush for all High School students (entering, current or newly graduated). These extremely entertaining classes are hands-on and will allow students to learn fundamental concepts of some of the most powerful software programs available.

Autodesk Maya
Date: July 19-23, 2010
Time: 1:00PM - 5:00PM
MayaThis award-winning 3D package, is used in the development of dynamic video games and blockbuster movies. Recent credits include: Lord of the Rings, Spiderman and Halo trilogies.
In this class we will be using Autodesk Maya to create our projects. This 3D program is used by many industry professionals and was used in such blockbuster movies as Pirates of the Caribbean, Spiderman 3, King Kong andLord of the Rings. It is also utilized in top selling video games such as Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider and Tekken III.
Concepts include: Introduction to Maya's interface, setting a scene, animating the camera, texturing, modeling, rigging, rendering and saving processes.
Projects include: Animating a logo, animating a camera through an environment, facial animation/lip-syncing and modeling/texturing a character.
Photoshop CS4

PhotoshopPhotoshop is the most utilized 2D package in the industry. Photoshop is used by the amateur photography hobbyist all the way to the most creative professionals in the media arts industry.
In this class we will be exploring Adobe Photoshop. This is the essential software for perfecting your images. You will get an overview of this powerful software and take a look at some exciting new features. Photoshop is not only used in graphic design but also web, digital video and 3d animation.
Concepts include: Introduction to Photoshop's interface, selection techniques, masks, color correction, smart filters, advanced compositing, vanishing point, 3D compositing, texture editing, cropping images and saving/printing processes.
Projects include: Make a car look like it is moving. Composite two photos together. Design front, side and back of favorite band's CD case.
ZBrush

ZBrush offers the world's most advanced tools for today's digital artists.With the ability to sculpt up to a billion polygons, ZBrush allows you to create limited only by your imagination.
ZBrush gives you all of the tools needed to quickly sketch out a 2D or 3D concept and then take that idea all the way to completion. You can create realistic renders directly in ZBrush with lighting and atmospheric effects.
In this ZBrush class you'll explore a wide range of modeling and texturing techniques that are used by industry professionals! ZBrush has been used in a wide variety of movies and games.
